Ricky Clemons has been suspended from the Missouri basketball team for one year following his pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges. Clemons, who was accused of choking and restraining a female acquaintance on January 16, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and false imprisonment in Boone County yesterday. He was originally charged with second-degree assault, which was a felony. Prosecuting attorney Kevin Crane suggested a 90-day jail sentence for the convictions. Sentencing will be on June 23. After the pleas were entered, the Athletic Department suspended Clemons for a year, but indicated that he could come back in the 2004-2005 season if he stays out of trouble and remains academically eligible.
