The Royals keep finding new ways to win. Kansas City used a pair of throwing errors to beat the Tigers 4-3 on Sunday, completing a three-game sweep. Desi Relaford led off the inning with an infield single and moved to second on a throwing error by the Detroit shortstop. Joe Randa then bunted toward first base. Tiger first baseman Carlos Pena threw the ball away, allowing Relaford to score the winning run. It capped an otherwise bad day for the Royals offense, which managed just four hits. Before the game, the Royals placed lefthander Jeremy Affeldt on the 15-day disabled list. Affeldt has a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand.
