April 21, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Former Southwest Missouri State women’s basketball coach Cheryl Burnett was officially named women’s basketball coach at Michigan today. She was introduced at a press conference on Monday. Burnett spent 15 seasons as coach of the SMS Lady Bears. She won 319 games, nine regular season conference titles and six league tournament titles. She also recorded 10 20-win seasons and led SMS to two appearances in the Final Four. Burnett will have her work cut out for her next year. Michigan went just 13-16 last year. The Wolverines 3-13 conference mark placed them last in the Big Ten.
