American Airlines flight attendants reverse themselves and approve $340-Million a year in concessions, becoming the third and final union to okay concessions that could keep the company out of bankruptcy. American extended voting for several hours so flight attendants who were voting “no” could switch. The new agreements with three unions would cost 7,200 employees their jobs, including all of the former TWA flight attendants based in St. Louis and several hundred ex-TWA pilots based there. Questions have been raised about the validity of the extended votes, though. A judge will look into it.
