Missouri’s National Guard commander says his people have a lot of work to do, even if it does appear the war in Iraq is winding down. General Dennis Shull says about one-third of the nearly 2,600 National Guard soldiers and airmen mobilized for the war are actually in the Middle East with another third on the way. He says he hopes they can get back to their families and fulltime jobs soon, although he has no timeframe on when that might happen. In the meantime, he says he’s proud of how great the employer support of the Missouri Guard has been. Shull adds with the war on terror continuing, deployments for his citizen-soldiers and airmen will continue as well.
