Tax Advocacy Group Calls For Increased Revenues … Raised "Fairly"

State lawmakers are being called on to consider changing the tax structure as a way of raising some much-needed revenues. The group Missourians for Tax Justice is visiting lawmakers to show them a study offering several suggestions for raising those dollars. Some focus on raising income taxes, while others look at increasing sales taxes. Group Chairman Pat Martin says increasing taxes for the wealthiest Missourians would be the fairest way of raising revenues. One of the income tax suggestions calls for a surtax on taxable income over $200,000.
