Royals Suffer First Loss of 2003

April 14, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The streak is over for the Kansas City Royals. After rattling off nine straight wins to open the season, the Royals lost for the first time in 2003, dropping a 6-1 decision to the Indians on Sunday. Cleveland starter Ricardo Rodriguez held K.C. to just one run in seven innings of work. That lone run came off the bat of Raul Ibanez, whose solo home run in the 5th cut the Indians lead to 3-1. But Milton Bradley powered Cleveland with 4 hits, including a long ball of his own. Royals starter Darell May took the loss. May lasted just four innings, and gave up three runs on seven hits. The Royals can get right back at the Indians, the two teams close out their four game series tonight in Cleveland.
