State officials have requested the Army Corps of Engineers release more water from upstream dams to raise Missouri River levels. State Agriculture Director Lowell Mohler says the river is too low to float barges a main supply channel for fertilizer. He explains it is important to get fertlizer on the fields before the spring planting, a that is rapidly approaching. Mohler says there will be some dredging of the river to help move some of the barges.
