Nursing Home Bill Passes Senate, Moves To House

April 11, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The Senate has passed and sent to the House a bill that aims to improve conditions at Missouri’s nursing homes. Among other things, it calls for hefty fines for operators of nursing homes found guilty of violations. Another feature of the bill sees background checks being conducted on nursing home employees. Although the final vote in favor of the bill was 31-to-0, it didn’t get there without a fight. Debate on the legislation earlier in the week took up seven hours over two days.
