The Kansas City Royals remained unbeaten yesterday with a 9-6 win over the Tigers. They scored five times in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. The rally included a grand slam off the bat of Dee Brown. With the score 6-1 in the fifth, Brent Mayne put the game out of reach with a three-run homer to make it 9-1. It was Mayne’s second homer of the season. The Royals held on to win despite the Tigers five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth. Jeremy Affeldt was charged with all five runs, but got his first win of the year. Mike MacDougal worked around a walk to get his fourth save of the season. The Royals are 6-0. They face the Tigers this afternoon at 12:05.
