If it were the Rams against the Broncos, this would have been a defensive battle. But in baseball, it’s just another day at Coors Field. The Cardinals topped the Rockies 15-12 in 13 innings. The Cards lost three leads in the game before Mike Matheny’s three run homer in the top of the 13th broke a 12-all tie. Cal Eldred who’s been battered around this season, pitched a perfect 12th and 13th to get the win. Jim Edmonds also homered, driving in five on the night. The game lasted 4:38. Brett Tomko will get the start today, instead of Garret Stephenson who was supposed to start. Stephenson will start on Thursday.
