American Airlines Warns Of K.C. Cuts If Concessions Not Given

April 9, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Union officials say American Airlines has indicated it could go bankrupt and close the Kansas City overhaul base if it doesn’t get proposed contract concessions. Hourly employees are being told about the nearly $2-Billion in wage and benefits cuts being proposed by the airline to keep it flying. Leaders of three unions have tentatively agreed to the deal. They represent pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and other ground workers. Employee groups are expected to complete voting on the deal next week. The Kansas City overhaul base employs more than 2,000 workers.
