An amendment on a transportation accountability measure the Missouri House has approved and sent to the Senate contains an amendment that would prohibit State Transportation Commission members from participating in political campaigns. Representative Lannie Black of Charleston says when commission members get involved in politics it hurst the credibility of the entire commission. Others, though, say Black is going too far- that his amendment runs over the First Amendment rights of commissioners. It makes it on the bill, though, and now will be considered by the Senate.
