Missouri Senators Fight For Former TWA Employees

April 4, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Under a proposed contract between Americans Airlines and its workers, all 1,800 of the St. Louis-based flight attendants who used to work for TWA are going to lose their jobs. And 600 more ex-TWA pilots based in St. Louis also are going to be fired. Missouri Senators Christopher Bond and Jim Talent are making it clear they’re not pleased with the situation. Both took to the floor of the Senate to blast the contract proposal, saying American Airlines lied when it took over TWA and promised to fairly integrate the workforce. Employees of the former TWA have been placed at the bottom of the seniority list, making them the first victims of job cuts.
