Democrats Downplay Report McCaskill Is Considering Challenging Holden

April 1, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri Democratic Party is weighing in on a report that State Auditor Claire McCaskill has hired a pollster and formed a fund-raising committee to look into the possibility of challenging Governor Bob Holden in his re-election bid. Party Spokesman Mike Kelley says the idea of Democrat McCaskill raising money is not unusual, because she has always had a continuing committee for re-election as Auditor. Kelley says he has no doubt that when Election Day of next year comes around Bob Holden will be representing the Democratic Party in the Governor’s race. The Auditor is not commenting on the reports.
