Members of the Missouri Supreme Court’s Commission on Children’s Justice are struggling to find the right words to put into an interim report on the state foster care system. The Commission is only partially through its work on reforming the foster care system in Missouri, but it is already being criticized for its actions. Sidney James, whose two-year-old son died of abuse while in state-sponsored foster care complains commission members are not listening to the input from parents, as was the case workers in his son’s death. He considers those workers accessories to murder. And, he says if the Commission members continue to operate as they are, they’ll be accessories in the next foster child’s death.
