No one will say it was the prettiest win, but the sellout crowd at Busch Stadium was all smiles after yesterday’s 11-9 opening day win over the Brewers. The Cardinals got home runs from Tino Martinez and Scott Rolen, as they erased two Brewer leads on Monday. Rolen’s long shot came just moments after Kerry Robinson bunted Fernando Vina to take an 8-7 lead. But Rolen’s three-run drive proved to be the game-winner as Richie Sexson chipped two runs off the St. Louis advantage with a two -run homer off Cal Eldred. Steve Kline replaced Eldred to get the save. Russ Springer got the win in relief of Matt Morris, who allowed five earned runs off eight hits in seven innings.
