Winter is officially over. The St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals both open their 2003 seasons today.The Cardinals will host the Milwaukee Brewers at 3:10. Matt Morris takes the hill for St. Louis, Ben Sheets will be on the mound for Milwaukee. The Redbirds will be looking to make their fourth straight postseason appearance, something that has never happened in the history of the franchise.The Royals, meanwhile, are coming off their first 100-loss season. They’ll host the Chicago White Sox at 2:05. A young Kansas City rotation brings just 21 career wins into this season. Runelvys Hernandez gets the call for the Royals, 19-game winner Mark Buehrle will start for Chicago.
