The state of Missouri is charging a diet supplement company with fraudulent advertising and failing to disclose the health risks of the supplement. The lawsuit against MuscleTech, which makes the supplement called “Hydroxycut,” says the company does not tell users about the dangers of ephedra, one of the ingredients. The lawsuit also charges the company has misled consumers with some before-and-after pictures in its ads. It says the company does not disclose that a woman in a “before” picture had just had a baby. The Attorney General’s office says the lawsuit is the first of many that will be coming agaisnt supplements.
