The rising cost of a college education could be offset by some state and federal money for students if they get their paperwork in on time. Students attending Missouri colleges and universities next fall are facing an April 1st deadline to get in their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as FAFSA, to get the money the federal and state governments make available. Higher Education Commissioner Quentin Wilson says it’s even more important with many schools raising tuition to make up for cuts in state funding. But Wilson admits the amount of financial aid is not quite keeping up with the rising costs of higher education. Wilson says prospective students for next fall can expedite the process by filling out the federal aid application through the U.S. Department of Education’s web site.
