One of the first American casualties of the invasion of Iraq is a Marine from Smithville. Sergeant Nicholas M. Hudson’s sister lives in Riverside. His girlfriend, and the mother of his two-year-old son, Michelle Smith also lives in Riverside. She says she’s been told Hudson died in a vehicle accident. She says she had received six letters from Hudson after he left and hopes there’s one last one in the mail on the way.
