The SMS Lady Bears made history but still lost in round one of the NCAA Women’s tournament. Their 67-59 loss to Texas Tech was the closest ever between a 2 and 15 seed in the NCAA Women’s Tournament. SMS was killed by a scoring drought that lasted over ten minutes in the first and second half. Before that, the Lady Bears led 23-19. Kari Koch had 19 points in the loss. SMS finished the season with an 18-13 record. They entered the game with a seven game winning streak.
