Members of the State Board of Education, accepting the fact that spending for schools will be cut, have heard from former State Budget Director Jim Moody about his proposals for dealing with the current budget crunch. Moody says the cuts being discussed are necessary and more might be needed unless new revenue sources are found. Board members say tax increases must be considered and they say Missourians will likely be open to that idea if they are assured the money will be used for education.
