Missouri’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January is down to its lowest level in over a year. It fell by four-tenths of a point from the revised December figure to 5.1 percent – the lowest level since December of 2001. Economic Development Director Joe Driskill says this is positive news, and a good indication that the state’s economic conditions are starting to improve. About 150,000 Missourians were estimated to have been jobless in January, about 14,000 less than December of 2002.
