The joint House-Senate committee looking into the Department of Natural Resources memo allegedly threatening firings of anyone helping lawmakers deal with the budget crisis has heard from its first witness. Keenan Patterson, the Department Supervisor who wrote the memo from notes he took at a February 20th meeting, was the committee’s only witness. Patterson insists he does not recall anyone at the meeting actually saying there would be firings. He stands by his statement that it was the impression he got out of the February 20th gathering. That, he says, is the information he passed along to his supervisor.
