The Blues and Canucks put together another memorable match up. St. Louis over came three deficits to top Vancouver 6-4 the Savvis Center. The Blues got themselves into a 2-0 hole in the first period, but battled their way back. Trailing 4-3 after two periods, Erik Boguniecki tied the game at 4-4 at the 3:35 mark. 40 seconds later, Petr Cajanek gave the Blues the lead with his second goal of the game. Scott Mellanby also scored twice and Al MacInnis had two assists. Chris Osgood got the win despite giving four goals on 25 shots. With the win, the Blues moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Western Conference. Before the game, the Blues and Fred Brathwaite officially parted company. The team wanted to go with just two goalies, which left Brathwaite as the odd man out. He’ll still be paid through July, unless he signs with another team. Because the move happened after the trade deadline, Brathwaite can’t play in the NHL the rest of the season.
