St. Joseph Man Convicted In Computer Hacking Case

March 14, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

The first computer hacking conviction in the western district of Missouri is that of St. Joseph resident Richard Gerhardt. Gerhardt, who worked at the Friskies Petcare plant in St.Joseph, got into the Nestle USA computer system and downloaded passwords from about five-thousand user accounts. Gerhardt has agreed to do 250 hours of community service, and pay $10,000 in restitution. He’ll find out if he will get prison time on top of that when he’s sentenced later.
