The State Senate has passed a bill that would create a three day tax holiday this August. The legislation would do away with most state and local taxes on the purchase of traditional school ittems during the tax free period, set for the second weekend in August. Supporters say thisproposal could give the economy a much-needed boost by encouraging Missouri residents to shop, as well as luring people in neighboring states into Missouri during the holiday. The Senate sends the bill to the House on the strength of a 26-5 vote.
