The Cardinals have come to terms with outfielder Albert Pujols, signing him to a one-year $900,000 salary. It’s the biggest deal ever for a non-arbitration-eligible player with less than three years in the majors. Pujols was second in MVP balloting last season by hitting .314 with 34 home runs and 127 RBI’s. On the field, the Cardinals got a perfect inning out of Rick Ankiel, but that was their only highlight in a 9-1 loss to the Braves.
