Amtrak trains will continue to roll through Missouri … but at a cost. State officials and Amtrak have reached a deal that will see passengers paying a little more to ride the rails. Starting April 1st, all instate tickets will have a $5 boarding surcharge. Amtrak will also cut staff at stations in Kirkwood and Jefferson City – leaving Kansas City and St. Louis as the only staffed stations in the state. The staffing cuts are expected to save $80,000 through the end of the current fiscal year.
