An odd attack on the St. Joseph campus of Missouri Western State College has the school on alert. College officials say a mostly bald, middle-aged man drove up to a student in broad daylight, grabbed her arm and licked the back of her hand. The assault occurred late last week in a parking lot across from the campus library. College officials responded by posting fliers on the doors of all college buildings, sending e-mail messages to students, faculty and staff, and providing a link to suspect’s description on the Internet. The national Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act requires timely warning of a crime that could pose a threat to others.
