Another effort is being made in the State Legislature to allow Missourians to carry concealed weapons. A House committee has endorsed a bill that would allow Missouri residents to get a $100 permit after they cleared a background check and proved they could shoot. Representative Larry Crawford of Centertown sponsors the bill. Conceal and carry measures have failed repeatedly to get through the Legislature and be signed by the governor. An attempt at the polls in 1999 failed as well.
