Missouri colleges are taking seriously warnings from the FBI that terrorists could target college campuses. Webster University in St. Louis has tightened security. Officials there say they ordered American flags on all of its overseas campuses taken down after the September 11th terrorist attacks in an effort to remove visible symbols that might attract attention. Officials with the University of Missouri at Columbia have increased security as well. Chancellor Richard Wallace says the university is fully focused on the safety of students. Washington University in St. Louis has recently increased foot and police vehicle patrols on campus, even though officials say they had emergency management plans in place well before September 11th.
