Rain shortened Sunday’s Daytona 500. For the second time in three years, Michael Waltrip came away with the win. St. Louis native Mike Wallace was the highest finishing Missourian, finishing in ninth place. His brothers Kenny and Rusty were 16th and 25th. Jamie McMurray of Joplin finished his first Daytona 500 in 31st place. A wreck ended the day early for Fenton’s Ken Schrader; he was 42nd.
