Finley’s Unlikely Goal Lifts Blues

February 12, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Jeff Finley ended a 173-game goal drought at the right time. His third period tally broke a 2-2 tie and gave the Blues a 3-2 win over the Sabres. St. Louis bounced back from a 2-0 first period deficit when Keith Tkachuk and Steve Martins scored in the second to tie it up. It was Tkachuk’s team-leading 25th goal of the season. The Blues are unbeaten in their last six games and lead Detroit by five points in the Central Division. The only bad news to come from the game was the loss of Doug Weight. He was hit below the nose with a puck. He’s not expected to play against the Flyers on Thursday. He recently returned from a bruised foot he suffered at the All-Star Game.
