A statewide survey indicates most Missourians think the Holden Adminstration made a mistake by ordering Confederate flags taken down at a Civil War Battlefield and at a Confederate veterans cemetery. The Zogby Internaitonal Poll done for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says two-thirds of those surveyed disagree with the decision and 45 percent “strongly” disagree. Only 30 percent say they agree. State Natural Resources Director Steve Mahfood ordered the flags taken down after getting a call from Goveronr Bob Holden’s press secretary after Congressman Richard Gephardt – a candidate for the presidency – said in South Carolina that flying the Confederate flag is not appropriate anywhere, any time.
