Feds Called On To Contribute More For Low-Income Heating Bills

The Chairman of the state’s Public Service Commission is asking the White House and Congress to send more federal dollars to Missouri to help low-income residents of this state pay their utility bills. Kelvin Simmons wants to see increased funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program – LIHEAP. Simmons says increased funding is needed because the stagnant economy has resulted in more requests for help and private organizations such as churches are strained because of the demand.
