A call is being issued for Governor Bob Holden to immediately fire members of the upper management team at the Greene County office of the Department of Family Services. It comes from State Representative Mark Wright of Springfield in response to revelations that DFS officials suppressed an e-mail dealing with the death of two-year-old Dominic James, who prosecutors claim was shaken to death last August by his foster father while under the protective custody of the state. The e-mail was sent by the Greene County DFS Supervisor to her boss days before the child’s death. It claimed DFS officials in Greene County had decided to override other team members who wanted the youngster removed from the foster home of John and Jennifer Dilley. Since last August, DFS officials had maintained the team of child welfare workers agreed to keep Dominic in the foster home. Developments prompted DFS caseworkers to stage a protest in Springfield, expressing outrage at the actions of upper management. The caseworkers have released a statement saying they feel “deceived” and “duped” by those actions.
