Missouri has a seat on the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee. Senator Christopher Bond has been appointed to the post, with today’s formal announcement following an overseas trip in which Bond travelled to Southeast Asia for briefings and assessments on regional security and terrorism issues. The Intelligence Committee, one of the most important on Capitol Hill, conducts oversight of and authorizes budget for the U.S. intelligence community, which includes the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency. Bond continues in his role as Chairman of the Transportation Subcommittee.
