It’s been a few days since the New Year kicked off and many people whose New Year’s resolution was to quit smoking have already seen that promise go up in smoke. Jim McDonald with the State Health Department says it’s no surprise that so many fail because it is difficult to quit cold turkey. He suggests calling the American Cancer Society’s quit smoking hotline at 1-800-4-CANCER. McDonald says anyone who tried to quit over the New Year’s holiday and didn’t succeed should simply try again and keep trying until the habit is kicked.
