Former Cape Girardeau County Collector Harold “Wheels” Kuehle (keely), who ran unsuccessfully against James Kirkpatrick for Secretary of State in 1972, has died. Kuehle was 67. He had fought cancer for six years. Kuehle served as Cape Girardeau County’s collector for 32 years. He began using a wheelchair after a high school football accident when he was 16, and used to have a bumper sticker on his specially-equipped car reading “the biggest handicap is people’s attitudes.”
