Thanksgiving Day weekend travel starts today, and Triple A Missouri wants your travel to be safe. It could be a very busy travel time this long holiday weekend. Mike Right with Triple-A in Missouri expects a two perecent increase from last year’s Thanksgiving travel and he says that means the potential for more accidents, mostly caused by drivers not paying attention to the task at hand. Right suggests avoiding traveling at night or early morning hours. But, for the most part, be flexible as far as the amount of time you allow for travel. And, Right says before you hit the road, make sure your vehicle is in good working order: Check the tires for proper inflation, make sure the lights are working properly, and check under the hood to make sure hoses and belts are in good shape. He says one of the most important pieces of equipment in the car is the seatbelt – make sure everyone in the vehicle is buckled up and kids are in the right type of safety seat.
