The Blues may not have put up much of a fight on the scoreboard, but they certainly held their own once the gloves dropped. St. Louis fell to the Sharks 4-1 on Monday in a game that will be remembered for fights, not goals. Near the end of the second period, Blues Winger Tyson Nash got into it with Brad Stuart. Both were given five-minute penalties. In the third period there were a number of roughing, hooking, and un-sportsmanlike conduct calls before a big fight broke out with 4:31 to go. The fight started between Bryan Marchment and Pavol Demitra, but soon ballooned into a street brawl. Eight players were sent to the penalty box. Then at the end of the game, Nash and Brad Stuart went at it again. The Blues only goal came from Scott Mellanby in the third period. The Blues have lost six of their last nine games. They face the Avalanche on the road tomorrow.
