Mark Twain retains his popularity in Missouri. About 300 people were turned away from Hal Holbrook’s one-man stage show portraying the author at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. The college could only accomodate 800 for the show, part of the St. Louis Public Library’s Signature Series. Holbrook is 77. He began regular tours of his Mark Twain show almost 40 years ago. He won a Tony Award for his Broadway run in 1966. CBS broadcast a version of the show in 1967.
