After leading Southeast Missouri State to the Ohio Valley Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2000-2001, Gary Garner experienced a mind-blowing experience in 2001-2002. The Indians went a dismal 6-22 last season. The good news coming into this season is that his top two scorers from last season are back. Sophomore Derek Winans led the team with 14.9 points per game as a freshman. He was also the team leader in assists and steals. Winans also grabbed 4.6 rebounds per game and was named the OVC’s Freshman of the Year. Senior Tim Scherr averaged 13.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest.
