Choice For Missouri Commemorative Quarter Unveiled

November 22, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The “Corps of Discovery” concept featuring the St. Louis Arch and three men paddling down the river in a canoe is the winning design for Missouri’s commemorative quarter. The final design, chosen by more than 217,000 Missourians who voted online, in schools, and in the State Capitol Building, has been unveiled by First Lady Lori Hauser Holden. The state had submitted five design concepts to the U.S. Mint, which made some adaptations to the winning concept created by Columbia artist Paul Jackson. The voting took place over two weeks.
