Health Department Marks Great American Smokeout

November 21, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Health Department is teaming up with the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers to take advantage of a new toll-free smoking cessation assistance hotline to give up the habit. The Department’s Janet Wilson says counsellors are available at 1-800-4-CANCER to lend a helping hand. It’s a toll-free call. Wilson says the counsellors can provide brief educational messages, assess a caller’s individual smoking behavior, and help the caller develop a personalized action plan for quitting.
