The idea to build a new downtown ballpark for the St. Louis Cardinals moves a step closer to reality. The Missouri Development Finance Board has approved the issuing of tax credits to the Cardinals and the City of St. Louis to help pay for the infrastructure such as roads around the new ballpark. Economic Development Director Joe Driskill stresses no state money is being used to build a ballpark. In exchange for the tax credits, the Cardinals and the City will contribute the Busch Stadium site and cash – a contribution totalling almost 59-Million.
