The Kansas Chiefs’ defense held on to top the Bills 17-16 at Arrowhead. Trailing 16-10 in the fourth quarter, Kansas City drove 78 yards on nine plays to take the lead. The drive was capped by Trent Green’s nine-yard scramble into the end zone. Green was 12-20 with 197 yards passing. Running back Priest Holmes had 104 yards on the ground and a touchdown. But the play of the game was not on offense. After Kansas City’s touchdown, Buffalo was driving and seemed poised to take the lead. But Eric Warfield came away with a spectacular interception at the three-yard line to take the ball and the game away from the Bills. The victory moved the Chiefs to 5-5 on the season; unfortunately, they made no ground in the competitive AFC West. The Chargers, Broncos and Raiders all came away with victories, leaving Kansas City two games out of first place.
