Missouri with its transportation woes might have put a native son in a powerful position to help from a federal government level. Senator Christopher Bond will become the Chairman of the Senate Transportation Subcommittee responsible for rewriting the Federal Highway Funding Bill for next year, and that could mean money for the state to fix crumbling Interstate highways. Bond says chairing the subcommittee gives him an easier time adding and subtracting items for the bill rather than waiting until the legislation hits the Senate floor. And, Bond says he’ll work on is getting back even more of the dollars Missouri puts into federal highway money. Bond says he’s already getting calls asking for help. He’s giving up what would have most likely been a chairmanship of the Committee on Small Business but he will remain a member.
